A man was arrested for allegedly murdering his brother over property dispute in Sagarpur area of South West Delhi, police said today.
Joginder (37), a history-sheeter with 87 criminal cases registered against him, was arrested for killing his brother Uttam over a property dispute a month ago, said police.
On August 16, Uttam was taken to Mata Chanan Devi Hospital in Janak puri with multiple stab wounds and she was declared brought dead. Uttam's wife Manju Devi, who was an eyewitness to the incident, told police that her brother-in-law Joginder stabbed him several times, said police.
Joginder had recently been released from Tihar jail. On release, he wanted to get his share in the ancestral property situated in Tagore Garden.
"First, he tried to persuade his mother and brother Uttam to sell the property and offered a proposal but Uttam refused to accept the offer. The issue led to an argument and escalated into a scuffle. Joginder, with an intention to eliminate Uttam and stabbed him brutally," said Additional Commissioner of Police (South West) Anil Kumar Ojha.
"Being a hardened criminal, Joginder knew how to elude the police net. Raids were conducted at Firojpur, Punjab, Rajasthan, Uttarakhand and Haryana in order to nab him.
"On September 14, police found out that Joginder would come to Sagarpur to arrange money for fleeing to Nepal. A trap was laid and he was finally nabbed from Nagarvan Park, Sagarpur," said Ojha.
Joginder has been so far been charge-sheeted in six arms dacoity cases, 25 theft cases, 15 snatchings cases, 11 hurts cases and one abduction case, besides several cases under the NDPS Act, the Excise Act and the Arms Act, said Ojha.
