Manmohan calls up Angela Merkel, felicitates her on poll win

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh tonight spoke to German Chancellor Angela Merkel over phone and congratulated her on her election victory.

Singh made the call from here where he is on an overnight halt on his way to the United States where he will meet President Barack Obama and address the UN General Assembly.

Merkel emerged triumphant for a third term at the helm of Germany in Sunday's elections.
