A cyclonic storm hit parts of Meghalaya's West Garo Hills district, damaging a large number of houses and crops, officials said today.
According to District Deputy Commissioner Ram Singh, many electricity poles and mobile towers also suffered damages in the storm, which hit the district yesterday.
"The cyclonic storm yesterday has affected several villages in Selsella, Dadenggre, Rongram and Tikrikilla Community and Rural Development blocks. An assessment of the amount of damages suffered is being done," he said.
