A 19-year-old married girl belonging to Rajput community, whose elopement with a Muslim man led to communal tension in Jhinjhiyali area here, was found today.
The girl, who got married in March, had gone missing from her house and a complaint in this regard was lodged at Jhinjhiyali police station on August 16, police said.
"The girl's family members had staged protest against her going missing and set ablaze some thatched houses belonging to the boy's community after which the situation in the area became tense," a senior police officer said.
Acting on a tip off, the police located the couple in Jhunjhunu district.
"The girl, along with her lover, had gone to meet an acquaintance at Jhunjhunu. After her identification, the girl was brought back to Jaisalmer.
"The girl has refused to go to her parents' house and is currently staying at Nari Niketan," the officer said.
