Director Jitendra Shikerkar today said his Konkani suspense thriller "Martin" would turn out to be a landmark movie in Konkani film industry.

Shikerkar said the film went on floor earlier this week and they are expecting its release this year itself.

"The movie is basically a suspense thriller. It is being entirely shot in Goa. This would be a landmark movie in Konkani film industry," Shikerkar told PTI.

The shooting for the film, starring Anuj Sikri, who had acted in "Mere Genie Uncle" (2015) and other Goan artists like John D'Silva, C D Silva, Shermino Goes, Aryan Khedekar, Brijesh Kakodkar, Rajay Pawar and actress Rohmeet Ahluwalia, began near Miramar beach here.

Produced by Prasad Creations, the movie is expected to be released later this year.

"The USP of the movie is the story. The attempts are made to ensure that the audience is at the edge of the seat in theatre during entire film," said Shikerkar who has directed "Uday" (Marathi) and "Mortoo" (Konkani) earlier.

The director said though the movie is shot in Goa, it can have pan-India audience.

"Once released in Konkani, we might think to dub it in other languages as language is no barrier for such kind of story," he added.
