Mayer calls himself 'a jerk' for talking about exes in public

Singer John Mayer regrets his foot-in-mouth syndrome, saying he was 'jerk' in talking about his ex-flames in public. The 35-year-old singer, who has dated a string of big names including Jennifer Aniston, Jennifer Love Hewitt and Taylor Swift, made headlines in 2010 when he referred to his ex-girlfriend Jessica Simpson as "sexual napalm" in a Playboy interview. "I was just a jerk," Mayer admitted in a sit-down interview with CBS Sunday Morning, to be aired on February 10. The crooner has been happily dating fellow musician Katy Perry since June 2012, with a brief separation in August. The 'Born and Raised' hitmaker is now recovering from surgery on his vocal cords and says he's looking to turn over a new leaf as he prepares for a return to the stage for the first time in two years, reported Us magazine. "It's very liberating when you finally realize it's impossible to make everyone like you. I wanted everybody to like me. I thought I was one shuck and jive away in every direction," he said.
