A woman, said to be mentally unsound, today gave birth to a baby on the road near Kutchery Pul here.
The woman was reportedly lying on the road in an unconscious state with the newborn at her side. On seeing her, a passerby called an ambulance and she was taken to a hospital.
Dr Pramila who is treating her said medical tests of both the woman and the child is being conducted.
Locals claimed that the woman was mentally unsound and used to roam around in the area.
