At least one soldier was killed and three others injured today in Pakistan's restive South Waziristan when unidentified militants opened fire on them.

"One soldier was killed in the attack that took place near Angor Adha," a Pakistani security source said.

Last week, a suicide bomber had driven a car filled with explosives into a military convoy, killing two soldiers in South Waziristan.

The bomber had crashed his white Toyota Corolla into a vehicle travelling in a military convoy in Wana.

South Wasiristan is considered a stronghold of Pakistani Taliban militants.
