An inter-ministerial panel on coal linkage will take a view on grant of fuel linkage to Lanco's 1,320-mw thermal power project in Maharashtra when the plant nears its commissioning date.

"The committee (standing linkage committee) decided that... The request of PP (project proponent) for grant of FSA (fuel supply agreement) would be taken up when the plant commissioning date neared," an official said.

The panel also took on record the special purpose vehicle (SPV) status of the PP based on South Eastern Coalfields' (SECL) confirmation and completion of letter of assurance (LoA) milestones, the official said.

Lanco Vidarbha is a coal-fired thermal power project with two super-critical units of 660 mw each located near Mandva in Wardha district of Maharashtra.

Earlier in the year, Lanco had received a 2-year extension of environmental clearance validity, with certain conditions, for its thermal power plant.

According to Lanco's website, all the major clearances for the project are in place. Lanco Infratech Ltd is the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contractor for the project.
