A 10-year-old girl today
drowned in a pond during heavy rains in Gangrej village in Shamli district, police said.
The girl, Saina, slipped into the pond while she was trying to take shelter with her family after their cottage collapsed as rain water entered in it, they said.
Her body was later recovered from the pond.
Irate locals gathered and stage protest against the incident.
