The body of a 17-year-old girl, missing since two days, was found today hanging from a tree in Dharam Kot Puneja village of Doda district here.
The girl had gone missing two days ago from her residence in Runta village in Doda, a police officer said.
"A missing case was registered and a search operation was underway to trace the missing girl, however today some passerby informed us that the body of a girl was hanging from a tree", the officer said.
After the autopsy at sub-district hospital Bhaderwah, the body was handed over to the family.
"The exact cause of the death is not known yet and we are trying to find out whether the girl committed suicide or was hanged by someone else. We have started investigation into the matter," the officer said.
