Suspected NCP activists today blackened face of an Assistant Civil Surgeon posted at district civil hospital here over the death of an elderly woman allegedly due to negligence by the staff in offering her treatment.
The activists flung ink on the face of Dr Raghunath Rathod after gheraoing him and also raised slogans against the hospital administration.
The woman, later identified as Lingamma (75), was admitted to the hospital yesterday after she was found lying in a pool of blood in Rabodi area.
It is alleged that the hospital staff did not attend to her for five hours and only did so on the intervention of some social workers. However, she died in the wee hours today.
Following the incident, Thane Nagar police in the evening detained NCP leaders, including local corporator Suhas Desai and others namely Sandeep Jadhav and Sachin Pandhare.
