A monkey today strayed into a police outpost in Shahjahanpur area here, creating ruckus during the incident, in which at least four persons were injured, police said.
The monkey entered the outpost under Sarsawa police station in the district and attacked local BKU leader Kamlesh Kumar when he tried to catch hold of him, Saharanpur SP Nitin Tiwari said.
To scare the animal away, Constable Rajendra Yadav fired on the monkey from his revolver, but the bullet, after bouncing off the ground, hit Kumar in his leg, the SP said.
Scared by the sound of firing, the monkey fled, he said, adding, the injured has been hospitalised.
