:More than five lakh devotees from all over the country are expected to throng Vedaranyam and Kodakarai in this district tomorrow to take part in 'Mahodaya Amavasai', a once in 27 years event.
Speaking to reporters after reviewing all arrangements, District Collector S Pazhanisamy told reporters that the unique combination of New moon day and Thiruvonam star would combine tomorrow, which is observed as 'Mahodhaya Amavasai'.It happens once in 27 years, he said.
He said devotees would take a holy dip in Bay of Bengal in Vedaranyam and Kodiakarai and also at 'ManikarnikaGhat' inVedaranyeshwarar Temple in Vedaranyam.

"It is expected that more than 5 lakh devotees would throng Vedaranyam on Monday.
Tight security arrangements have also been made to ensure smooth conduct of the festival," he said.
