Press Trust of India New Delhi
Mustard seed prices were up by Rs 52 to Rs 3,972 per quintal in futures trading today after speculators widened their positions, driven by a firm trend at the physical markets on tight supplies.

Marketmen attributed gains in mustard seed prices at the futures trading to a firming trend at the spot markets following tight supplies due to untimely rains in growing regions.

Besides, increased demand from oil millers too supported the upside in mustard seed prices, they said.

In futures trading at the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, mustard seed for delivery in May spurted by Rs 52, or 1.33 per cent to Rs 3,972 per quintal, with an open interest of 29,840 lots.

On similar lines, most-active delivery in April advanced by Rs 50, or 1.29 per cent to Rs 3,936 per quintal, having an open interest of 68,130 lots.
