A local activist today approached a court here seeking action against Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav for making "objectionable statement" in connection with the Muzaffarnagar riots.

Judicial Magistrate Alok Srivatsav has accepted the petition of Virendra Singh, and posted the matter for hearing on November 27.

Singh is an accused in three cases in connection with the Muzaffarnagar communal violence, and is out on bail now.

The complaint refers to Yadav's reported speech on November 1.

The SP chief had warned communal forces against vitiating peace in the state, saying his party's government will "crush" them.

Communal clashes had erupted in Muzaffarnagar and adjoining areas of western UP on September 7, that killed 61 persons.
