NABARD sanctions Rs 153 crore loan to Andhra Pradesh

NABARD has sanctioned Rs 153 crore to Andhra Pradesh under its Rural Infrastructure Development Fund (RIDF) for construction and upgradation of 16 hospitals in different parts of Andhra Pradesh.

NABARD Chief General Manager Jiji Mammen said that during 2013-14, NABARD sanctioned a total of Rs 1,201 crore to the AP government which works out to 83 per cent of the target.

Since RIDF's inception in 1995-96, NABARD sanctioned a loan component of Rs 16,625 crore for 28,775 projects to the state government.

Major sectors which received financial support from NABARD are agriculture and allied activities (Rs 7,282 crore), rural connectivity Rs 6,336 crore and social sector (Rs 3,007 crore), according to a NABARD statement.
