Expressing concern over substantial shortfall in meeting the target for construction of houses under JNNURM in the capital, Urban Development and Housing Minister Venkaiah Naidu today asked Delhi administration to expedite the project.
In a meeting to review the status of construction of houses under JNNURM, it was reported that as against the sanctioned 64,184 dwelling units in Delhi, construction of only 22,924 units has been completed, out of which only 585 have been occupied so far.
Naidu spoke to Lt Governor Najib Jung and Delhi Chief Secretary DM Spolia and discussed issues relating to shortfall in JNNURM housing project, a senior Urban Development Ministry official said.

Naidu expressed concern over the substantial shortfall in respect of physical targets in respect of construction of houses under JNNURM and asked both of them to take necessary measures to ensure allotment and occupation of the 22,300 houses constructed besides ensuring completion of the remaining houses for which the ministry has already released committed share of central assistance.
DDA has also been asked to ensure 15 per cent FAR for EWS in respect of group housing schemes as per provisions of Delhi Master Plan-2021.
