Naxals set ablaze 14 trucks and a JCB machine near a facility of Essar Steel in the insurgency- hit Dantewada district of Chhattisgarh today, police said.
A more than a hundred ultras, disguised as villagers, stopped the convoy and torched 14 trucks and a JCB machine which were on the way to Essar Steel's plant in Kirandul this afternoon, said a police officer.
The trucks were carrying iron-ore. No one was hurt as the drivers and others had got out of the vehicles after the Naxals, who were carrying axes, threatened them.
A police team was immediately rushed to the spot.
The Naxals fired on the police but retreated into jungles when the latter returned the fire, the officer said.
