NHPC Q1 net profit jumps 24% to Rs 767 crore

Total income during the quarter under review rose marginally to Rs 2,218.80 crore

Press Trust of India New Delhi
State-run NHPC today reported 24.53 per cent increase in its unaudited standalone net profit at Rs 767.17 crore for the quarter ended June 30, 2015.

The company's standalone net profit during the April-June quarter of the previous fiscal was Rs 616.03 crore, NHPC said in a BSE filing.

Total income during the quarter under review rose marginally to Rs 2,218.80 crore from Rs 2,217.62 crore in the corresponding quarter of the previous fiscal, it added.

The company said that since the nature of business is seasonal, the financial results of the current quarter may not be comparable with other quarters.

Electricity generation is the principal business of the company and other operations like contract, project management and consultancy works do not form the reportable segment.

Meanwhile, the company informed BSE that pursuant to the guidance note issued by Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, regulatory income amounting to Rs 135 crore for the quarter under review has been recognised in respect of Subansiri lower power project where construction activities were interrupted from December, 2011 due protest by anti-dam activists.

The company's shares closed 0.80 per cent up at Rs 18.90 apiece on the BSE.
