Accusing Uttarakhand Health Minister Surendra Singh Negi of tarnishing his image, Leader of Opposition in state assembly, Ajay Bhatt today claimed that the multi-crore NRHM scam occurred a year before his tenure as chairman there.

Furnishing documents revealed in an RTI query, Bhatt today said the irregularities in Asha Kit distribution, known as NRHM scam, occurred in fiscal year 2008-09 while he was appointed chairman of the committee in 2009-10.

As the chairman he did not have any financial powers, Bhatt said adding that he attended only one meeting of Project Implimentation Programme (PIP) that too he did not sign any documents during it.

Bhatt said Negi levelled allegations against him without going through the facts properly. Following Negi, state Congress President Kishore Upadhyay and his team members made statements against him.

The LoP said although when he challenged the allegation, Negi backtracked from his statement and gave cleanchit to him. But still some Congress leaders are making statement against him.

Claiming that Harish Rawat-led government is trying to malign the reputation of opposition leaders by levelling false allegations.

Similarly Congress leaders have levelled allegation against former Agriculture Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat in Dhaincha (green manure crop) seed procurement scam and former Chief Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank in irregularities in 2010 Haridwar Ardh Kumbh fair.

He further said that even when present Agriculture Minister Harak Singh Rawat has cleared that no scam occurred in seeds procurement, still some Congress leaders are accusing Trivendra.

While the then Chairman of Public Accounts Committee and present Cabinet Minister, Pritam Singh found the allegations of CAG report against Nishank wrong and rejected it.

Rejecting the allegations of Chief Minister Harish Rawat of not receiving funds from the Centre, Bhatt said the while thirteenth finance commission gave Rs 15,965 crore to Uttarakhand, the fourteenth commission increased the amount to Rs 40,967.
