Odisha: 5-year-old raped, later strangulated to death

A 5-year-old girl was allegedly raped and then strangulated to death and her body dumped near Jajpur-Keonjhar Road railway station at Panasia here, police said today.

The girl, daughter of a daily wage earner, was yesterday reported missing by her mother on returning home from work.

On searching the area with the help of her neighbours, she found her body near the railway track, police said.

"The girl's body was found naked and her private parts were bleeding profusely," her mother told police.

Police have filed an FIR in connection with the matter.
