'Officials overstaying in govt quarters even after retirement'

Several officials and dignitaries are overstaying in their government accommodations in Delhi even after retirement, the Lok Sabha was informed today.

In a written reply, Minister of State for Urban Development Deepa Dasmunshi gave details as per which there were 444 instances where government accommodation had not been vacated after the occupant had retired.

As per the details, 65 of the residences belonged to the Type-I category while 140 residences belonged to Type-II category. Seventy-seven residences belonged to Type-III while 106 houses belonged to Type-IV categories, she said.

Among Type V houses there are 39 such cases and 16 instances in Type VI. As per the minister's reply, there was one instance of overstaying in a Type-VII house, which are generally meant for senior officials.
