A Maoist carrying a Rs one lakh reward on his head surrendered while another ultra carrying the same reward amount was arrested by police in Palamau district, a senior police officer said Tuesday.
Superintendent of Police Indrajit Mahata said Maoist, Krishna Singh, who was with the banned CPI (Maoist) for the last 11 years surrendered before police here on Tuesday.
As per the states surrender policy, Singh, who hails from Kodia village and was carrying a reward of Rs one lakh on his head was given a cheque of Rs one lakh after his surrender, the SP said.
The police officer also said that Rs 40,000 per year will be given to the surrendered Maoist for his childrens education.
In a separate incident, the security forces arrested another Maoist, identified as Lakhraj Bhuyan, from Jogiashodhi under Lesliganj police station of the district on Monday night.
The SP said Bhuyan, who also have a Rs one lakh reward on his head, was involved in encounters, attacks on police forces and other naxal-activities.
