One more person dies due to heat wave in Ahmedabad

Though the heat condition has eased somewhat in many parts of Gujarat, one more person lost his life due to severe heat, taking the toll to 12 in the city.

"Mahesh Dagli (56) died today due to a 'heat-stroke' during his treatment at the civic authority run Vadilal Sarabhai (VS) Hospital. Dagli, a resident of Madalpur vilage of Paldi area in the city, was admitted on June 7," Bhavin Solanki, in-charge health officer of Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) said.

The severe heat in Ahmedabad has so far claimed 12 lives, as per the civic body data.

Solanki further said that four more people, who were affected by the 'heat stroke' have been admitted in different civic hospitals in the city.
 

As per the state meteorological department, maximum temperature in Ahmedabad touched 42 degrees Celsius, while neighbouring Surendranagar city recorded 42.3 degrees Celsius.

Situation in the Saurashtra region has also improved with Rajkot (41.6), Amreli (39.6) and Bhavnagar (38.7) not facing severe heat today.

Capital of the Gujarat, Gandhinagar sizzled at 41.5 degrees Celsius.

In central Gujarat, Vadodara got some respite as a maximum temperature of 39 degrees Celsius was recorded while Vallabha Vidyanagar town recorded 41.8 degrees Celsius.

As per the Met department, there are chances of light to moderate rains or thundershowers in isolated places of the state, while Ahmedabad city might witness partly cloudly skies with thunder towards the evening or night.
