Rajathan Government has declared more than 7,000 villages in 28 districts of the state as "scarcity hit" and exempted the villages from 'Abiyana' (irrigation) tax.
The government issued a notification to this effect after reports from district collectors about assessment of losses to crops due to unseasonal rainfall and hailstorm, according to an official release here.
Total 7,759 villages, where crop losses were more than 50 per cent, have been declared "scarcity hit".
