The airport terminal at Ozar, about 20 km from here, is scheduled to be ready by the end of March.

"The work on the main building has been completed barring internal air conditioning of the machinery and some electrification work which is in the final stages. The terminal will be ready within a month for inauguration," said PWD Superintending Engineer P Y Deshmukh.

The state government and Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd (HAL) are jointly upgrading the airport at a cost of Rs 80 crore.

The airport has capacity to handle 300 passengers at a time and around six planes can be landed there. The building will be totally air-conditioned and will have all facilities and amenities as per the global norms.

State PWD Minister Chhagan Bhujbal today visited the airport and took stock of the ongoing work. He also performed "bhoomi-poojan" (ground-breaking ceremony) for laying of the five-km Nashik-Janori Road on the national highway.
