Paddy procurement in Punjab has reached 117.62 lakh tonne, a bulk of which has been bought by government agencies, in this season so far.
Government agencies procured 115.68 lakh tonne of paddy while rest was bought by private traders or millers, an official spokesman said here today.
Among government agencies, Pungrain bought 36.73 lakh tonne while Markfed, Punsup, PSWC and Punjab Agro bought 26.79 lakh tonne, 25.9 lakh tonne, 11.18 lakh tonne and 12.14 lakh tonne respectively.
Central procurement agency FCI bought 2.86 lakh tonne which is about 2.5 per cent of total purchase.
