Pak local leader killed in attack

A local political leader of the secular Awami National Party was today killed by unknown armed men in Pakistan's restive northwestern province.

According to police, Dost Muhamad Khan alias Khan Baba, district president of Awami National Party (ANP), died on the spot after two motorcycle-riding gunmen opened fire at the party office in Utmanzai bazaar area in Charsadda district of Khyber Pakthunkhwa.

It was an incident of target killing, police said, adding that the attackers managed to flee from the scene.

Emergency and security teams have reached the spot. Security personnel have cordoned off the area and a probe into the incident has started.
 

Founded in 1986, the ANP is a secular and a leftist Pashtun political party in Pakistan, represented by two seats in the Parliament.
