Panch arrested, one kg cannabis recovered

A panchayat member has been arrested and one kilogram of cannabis recovered from his possession in Jammu and Kashmir's Rajouri district, police said here today.

Acting on a tip-off, police intercepted a vehicle at Maiki Morh in Thanamandi belt yesterday. During search of the vehicle, one kg cannabis was recovered, police said.

The three occupants of the vehicle were taken into custody. After investigation, two persons were released and the panch, identified as Mohammad Nazir Malik, was arrested, they said.
