Gas and diesel engines maker Perkins will make India the manufacturing hub for its 4000 Series engines to cater to domestic as well as Asia Pacific markets, a top company official said.

The company has set up a manufacturing facility in the Shendra Industrial Estate in Aurangabad, along the Delhi Mumbai Industrial Corridor (DMIC).

"We invested over USD 150 million to develop this facility. Given the huge potential that India offers us, especially with the government's 'Make in India' initiative, we are hopeful that this facility will not only cater to the demand here but we will also meet the demand across Asia Pacific," Perkins India Chairman Richard Cotterell told PTI here.

The facility has a capacity of manufacturing 3,000 engines per year.

"The Aurangabad facility typifies today's modern manufacturing and assembly plant. The quality of engines being produced here is second to none.

"From its equipment and assembly lines to the systems, processes and quality control, our world-class facility represents the best in current engineering thinking," he said.

Talking about the product, Cotterell said for larger power generation requirements, whether prime or standby generation, the 4000 Series engines, with capacity of 750-2500 kVA, offer exceptional efficiency.
