Plea to change name of Arjan Garh metro station to Aya Nagar

Delhi High Court today sought the response of Delhi government and DMRC on a plea seeking a direction to change the name of Arjan Garh metro station to Aya Nagar.

A bench of Chief Justice G Rohini and Justice Jayant Nath also issued notices to the Delhi government and Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) asking them to file their reply to the contention that the areas around that station was known and recognised as Aya Nagar.

The court was hearing a plea filed by one Ved Pal who said that over one lakh residents of Aya Nagar were facing problem due to existing name.
 

Seeking the change in the name, he said the bus stands and public transports ran and operated in the name of Aya Nagar, while the municipal corporation office was also named likewise.

The Arjan Garh Metro Station is located on the Yellow Line of the Delhi Metro en route to Gurgaon. It was opened for public on June 21, 2010.
