A local court today directed the Garhwa police to give a report on the death of an accused in police remand.

The court of Chief Judicial Magistrate issued the directions after the father of Udesh Paswan petitioned for a judicial probe into his son's death on the night of Saturday/Sunday.

Transferring the case to the district sessions court, the Chief Judicial Magistrate asked the investigating officer and the officer-in-charge of Nagarutari police station to submit the report within three days.

Paswan had been sent to 14 days judicial custody after he had surrendered to the CJM court last week as the police were looking for him in connection with the death of a minor girl at Kusdagh village in Garhwa district.

The court on Saturday allowed the police request to take him in remand for three days for interrogation.

The police sources said that Paswan suffered injuries when he allegedly attempted to commit 'suicide' in his cell at Nagarutari police station, and was immediately rushed to the hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

However, the deceased's father, Vinod Paswan sought a judicial probe into the circumstances surrounding his death.
