Polls to fill vacancy in Maha Legislative Council on Aug 19

The Election Commission today announced that polls to fill a vacancy in the Maharashtra Legislative Council after retirement of a member will be held on August 19.

Announcing the schedule of elections, the Election Commission said polling will be held in the Aurangabad-cum- Jalna Local Authorities' Constituency from 8 AM to 4 PM and counting will take place on August 21 at 8 AM.

The vacancy was created as the term of office of sitting member Tanwani Kishanchand Lekhraj of the Maharashtra Legislative Council from Aurangabad-cum-Jalna Local Authorities' Constituency expires on August 29.

The notification will be issued on July 25 and the last date of making nominations is August 1. After scrutiny of nominations the next day, the last date for withdrawal of candidature is August 5.
