Potato futures gain 1.64 per cent on spot demand

Potato prices rose 1.64 per cent to Rs 1,449 per quintal in futures trading today as speculators enlarged positions on robust spot demand.
Besides, less arrivals from producing regions supported the upside.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, potato for delivery in July climbed Rs 23.40, or 1.64 per cent, to Rs 1,449 per quintal in a business turnover of 194 lots.

Potato for delivery in June also moved up by Rs 13.80, or 1.01 per cent, to Rs 1,378.70 per quintal in 28 lots.
Analysts said rising demand in the spot markets against tight supplies from producing regions pushed up potato prices at futures trade.
