Seven units of Narla Tatarao Thermal Power Station at Vijayawada broke down today due to technical problems that cropped up at Tallapalli power sub-station between Vijayawada and Nagarjuna Sagar.
The station, which has 1,700 MW capacity, is generating under-500 MW of power at present, J Sammaiah, Chief Engineer of the power station, said.
Engineers were trying to solve the problem, he said.
Meanwhile, several employees of the power station, including engineers, have allegedly stayed away from the work since this morning following the 48-hour bandh called in protest against the division of Andhra Pradesh.
