Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Tuesday hit out at the BJP government in Uttar Pradesh over the fuel price hike in the state, accusing it of unleashing "economic destruction" and "cracking the whip" of price rise on the people.
She also said that the common man is waiting day and night for relief from "major economic slowdown".
When will job losses stop, she asked.
"On the one hand, the BJP government causes economic destruction through its policies, destroys trade, while on the other hand it cracks the whip of price rise on the people," Priyanka Gandhi said in a tweet in Hindi.
In another tweet, the Congress general secretary in-charge UP East said: "Will the BJP openly tell that its corruption has made Uttar Pradesh bankrupt?"
Petrol and diesel prices in Uttar Pradesh were hiked by Rs 2.5 and Re 1 respectively from Monday midnight as the government increased Value Added Tax (VAT).
