Punjab Education Dept conducts surprise checks at 904 schools

Punjab Education Department today conducted surprise checks at 904 government schools across the state in which 90 teachers were found absent while 97 others reached their schools late.
It also came to light that 69 teachers had not been going to schools for a long period.
Education Minister Daljit Singh Cheema said surprise checking was a part of consistent campaign launched by the education department to ensure 100 per cent attendance in schools and to maintain discipline.
He said special teams visited 250 schools under Jalandhar Circle, 322 schools under Nabha (Patiala) Circle and 332 schools under Faridkot Circle.
