Punjab government will soon launch a campaign to clean and de-clog sewerage systems in all cities.
Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal today gave directions in this regard while reviewing the development works of all cities in a meeting.
He said old sewerage systems in the cities were facing frequent problems of clogging and overflow.
Badal said Local Government department should work out a state-wide comprehensive plan to de-clog the sewerage system and hand over its operation and maintenance to a private company.
He said the department should identify scientific machinery for mapping the sewerage network, vacuum suction pumps to clean the system without involving manual cleaning and float a tender for the entire cleaning operation.
