Punjab govt to take action against absent staff

Press Trust of India Chandigarh

An official spokesman said all government departments have been directed to give such staff a three-day notice to resume their duties, failing which they would be treated as absent and dismissal/removal process initiated under Punjab Civil Services (Punishment and Appeal) Rules, 1970.

He said that any such officer/official should not be allowed to rejoin without the pre-approval of competent authority and the concerned administrative department should discuss the issue with finance department under Punjab Civil Service Rules.

Besides, departmental action should be taken against those officers/officials, who during their study leave do business/work or get financial benefits in violation of Rule 15 of Government Employees' (Conduct) Rules, 1966.

The spokesman said that in case of non-compliance of these instructions, departmental proceedings should also be initiated against concerned officers/officials.
