Rains continue to lash UP

Moderate to heavy rain and

thundershowers continued to occur at isolated places over eastern Uttar Pradesh, with some places in the west receiving heavy showers owing to an active South-West monsoon over the region.

Baheri received maximum 30 cm of rainfall, followed by Bareilly 19, Etah 10, Neemsar, Kasganj and Shaswan 7 each, and Ankinghat, Mohammadi, Moradabad, Shahabad, Jalalabad and Bisauli 5 each, the MeT department said.

While Rampur, Swar, Mauranipur received 4 cm of rainfall each, Gaighat, Katarniaghat, Bareilly, Muzaffarnagar, Chhibramau and Bharthana got 3 cm.

The department said rain and thundershowers may occur at most places over east UP and at many places over the west.
 

It said heavy to very heavy rain would occur at few places over east UP and at isolated places over west Uttar Pradesh during the next 48 hours.

Meanwhile, the Central Water Commission report said Sharda river was flowing above danger mark at Paliakalan in Lakhimpur district and, and is still rising.

Ghaghra too is flowing above the danger mark at Elgin bridge in Barabanki. It is also rising at Ayodhya, but is below danger mark.

Similarly, Ganga is rising in Mirzapur, Varanasi, Ghazipur and Ballia, the report said.
