Rajasthan Police today told a court in Nagaur district that the woman, who has accused Congress MLA Udai Lal Anjana of rape, was not reporting for statement and sought court's direction in the matter.

Unable to trace the rape victim, Criminal Investigation Department-Crime Branch (CID-CB) filed an application in Judicial Magistrate court of Nagaur, saying the woman was not reporting to the agency despite several reminder notices were sent to her addresses, a police spokesman said here.

"In such a situation, the court should guide on how to conduct the probe," said Investigation Officer (IO) of the case in the application.

Today, the IO again contacted rape victim's relatives but no one turned up to record statements, the spokesman said.

Yesterday, police had provided call details of four mobile phone SIMs, two each of the Congress MLA and the woman, to the officer investigating the case.

The SIMs were provided by Superintendent of Police Nagaur to IO.

Anjana, MLA from Nimbahera in Chittorgarh district, was booked for allegedly sexually exploiting the 50-year-old woman since 1984 on the pretext of marriage, charges which he denied.

The woman, a resident of Mundwa area, had approached the local court in Nagaur seeking registration of case against the MLA. The case was registered in Mundwa following a court's order.

The case was later transferred to the CB-CID as it was related to an MLA, a police officer had said.

Anjana has claimed the charges were baseless and "part of a political conspiracy".
