Rajasthan Minister reviews crop losses due to recent rains

Rajasthan Agriculture Minister Prabhu Lal Saini today reviewed losses to crop due to recent rainfall and directed officials to complete damage assessment work at the earliest.

During this visit to Tonk, he held a meeting with the district administration and agriculture department officials today and reviewed relief work started after the rainfall.

District collector Tina Kumar briefed the Minister about the losses to crops, deaths due to rain-related incidents and compensation distributed the victims' families.

The Minister was informed that damage to mustard oil seed crops in the district was 25-30 per cent while water logging was in some farms in Uniara area.
 

An official said that out of the total 1214 villages in Tonk, 252 have affected due to the rains and hailstorm.

Saini asked the officials to complete assessment of damage so that the affected farmers can be compensated accordingly, according to a spokesperson.

The minister visited areas like Mehandwas, Anrinyan, Chhan villages in Tonk.
