A rape accused was allegedly beaten to death by two inmates at the Central Jail in Chhattisgarh's Durg district today, police said.
Ajay Dewangan (34), resident of Supela police station limits in the district, was arrested on the charge of sexually assaulting his mother yesterday, inspector general of police, Durg Range, Dipanshu Kabra told PTI.
He was found dead in his barrack today. Preliminary investigation suggested that he was thrashed by two inmates because of the allegation he was facing, the IG said.
An enquiry had been ordered and exact cause of death will be known after the autopsy report was received, he said.
