Red sandalwood worth Rs 1 crore seized, 2 held

Red sandalwood, worth over Rs 1 crore, was seized and two persons were arrested during a raid by forest and police officials at Madarihat in Alipurduar district today.

A police officer said 2,340 kg of sandalwood were seized, cut in 117 logs, from a vehicle on Birpara-Madarihat Road and two were arrested.

The two were identified as Shyam Seva and Shamim Alam.
