A retired IAS officer was injured after a clash with a police constable over car parking, police said today.

Tulsi Gaur, who served as the district magistrate here in 1993-94, parked his car last night outside an ATM near the PAC headquarters in Kwarsi police station area here.

After a constable asked him to move his vehicle, an argument ensued between the two. In the blows exchanged, Gaur was severely injured, police said.

Within minutes, senior district officials, including District Magistrate Rishikesh Bhaskar Yashod and SSP Rajesh Pandey rushed to the spot and arranged a vehicle to rush Gaur to the state-run Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Hospital.

He was referred to the Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College later in the night.

According to senior doctors at the hospital, Gaur is now improving.

The police constable, in his complaint at the Kwarsi police station, alleged that he retaliated only after he was slapped by the retired officer.

Though Gaur has refused to speak to media, his wife, who was present at the spot, rebutted the constable's allegation.

She claimed the cop dragged her husband and beat him up after angry words were exchanged.
