Rice basmati, barley decline on muted demand

Press Trust of India New Delhi
Prices of rice basmati and barley fell by up to Rs 100 per quintal at the wholesale grains market today owing to slackened demand against ample stocks position.

However, other grains including wheat held steady in scattered deals.

Traders said sluggish demand against adequate stocks position mainly led to the decline in rice basmati prices.

Reduced offtake by consuming industries kept pressure on barley prices, they said.

In the national capital, rice basmati common declined by Rs 100 to Rs 5,300-5,500 per quintal.

Other bold grains like barley also traded lower by Rs 30 to Rs 1,500-1,505 per quintal.
