Rich tributes paid to Kargil martyr

Rich tributes were today paid to Kargil War martyr, Capt (Late) Neikezhakuo Kenguruse, at his memorial at Nerhema village here by Inspector General of Assam Rifles (North), Major General MM Naravane.

Saluting the martyr, who was conferred with a Mahavir Chakra (Posthumous) for his exceptional act of bravery, Naravane said the sacrifice made by Kenguruse will always be remembered.

Neisielie Kenguruse, father of the martyr, friends, relatives and people from Nerhema and neighbouring villages attended the ceremony organised by the 5 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of IGAR (North).

Meanwhile, the 5 Sector Assam Rifles 'Bravery Award', constituted in memory of Capt Kenguruse, was conferred on Neizakie Pielie of Griphema Basa village in Kohima district for his act of bravery in saving the life of a girl who was drowning.
 

Capt Kenguruse made the supreme sacrifice on June 28, 1999, during the Kargil War while destroying an enemy bunker and killing four enemy soldiers.
