Nagaland Minister Tongpang Ozukum told the Assembly Tuesday that the state government has prioritized 116 km of 1110-km of roads in district headquarters for repair and maintenance.

Replying to queries in the Assembly, the Public Works Department minister said around 70 km road has already been repaired as part of the programme and the remaining 46 km will be taken up after the monsoon season.

"The department has been allocated Rs 50 crore for the repair of major roads and the government has released Rs 25 crore in the first phase," he explained.

The minister also said that the department has constituted a task force to come up with a "comprehensive road policy".

Expressing his dissatisfaction to Ozukum's reply, Opposition NPF MLA Kuzholuzo Nienu said the PWD minister has twisted the facts to conceal the department's misdoings.

He, however, did not clarify what "misdoings" was he referring to.

Ozukum, on his part, assured to disclose before the House Thursday the names of the roads that were being taken up on a priority basis in every district.
