: A watchman of Sri Tentiruvalayanathar swamy temple here has been suspended for not being present in the temple premises when some persons attempted to break open the hundial, officials said today.
The robbers, who made their attempt late last night, escaped after the alarm went off. Officials rushed to the spot and found the night watchman was not present at his post, following which he was suspended.
The renovation of the ancient temple, situated in a busy street, is in progress and the consecration is scheduled to be held shortly.
